It started when we were welcomed at the door. Then the presentation of the menu. Also the recommendations & specials for the evening helped our party choose. I on the other hand knew what I wanted & wasn't disappointed. Can't wait to go back. Just reviewing my mealy mouth is watering for more!

I LOVED every part of our ev at Mimmo's. Enough so, we returned again a few nights later. Mimmo himself is the host. He found us a table even though they were busy with Easter weekend diners. Wonderful service, beautiful menu, filled with quality dishes. The venue itself was clean, attractive and had a variety of well appointed areas. Of course, the food is key in a restaurant. Mimmo's hit the spot in every way. Crusty, soft, fresh bread. Beautiful salads. Entrees were the appropriate temperatures. Pasta was Al dente. Everything was exceptional. Mimmo and team, thanks again! Bill

I had the special, prawns and scallops and artichokes with tagliatelle and they said lemon cream sauce. I don't believe that it was lemon cream sauce. But it was cooked perfectly. Also had the polenta with wild mushroom sauce and the special prawns with garlic sauce as appetizers. I think the polenta with mild mushroom sauce is the best appetizer I've ever had. The special prawns was also excellent. Two other people in our party had the ravioli with radicchio and mascarpone cream sauce and they said it's probably the best dish they've ever had. I may have to get that the next time I go. Customer Service was excellent.

This place has amazing reviews, so we came here to celebrate a few birthdays while in town. DO NOT come here looking for a trendy nighttime atmosphere, stay near downtown Palm Springs / Coachella valley for that. Place was mundane on a Saturday night, but didn't affect my review. Restaurant as a whole could be nicer, I would say if you're coming here to eat and going home it's perfect but it's not a great place for other activities. The food is fine, I enjoyed my meal personally hence the four stars (shared the gnocchi and the vegetable pasta) but many at my table did not entirely love their dishes (like many other reviews, found it all too salty!). It is all decently pricey for what you get but comparatively for the area I think it is justifiable, and the portions are perfect if not on the big side. Service was good, automatic gratuity as we had 7 people which was fine. I would realistically give this

Solid Italian restaurant, with great food and service. My daughter and I had a lovely dinner here (with one little exception) while on one of our many trips to the desert. I started with the blanc de blanc split, while my daughter had an Arnold Palmer. They started with warm bread and the ubiquitous olive oil tapenade--yummy. And 2 extra points for serving warm bread, which most places have stopped doing. For appetizers we shared the clams/mussels and the special caprese salad which was heirloom tomatoes, burrata cheese and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. Honestly, it wasn't heirloom tomatoes (shouldn't call it that bc heirlooms are very easy to spot and have a specific taste) but they made up for it with the burrata cheese, which was very tasty. The mussels and clams were also good, and very light. For our main course, my daughter ordered the penne a la vodka with salmon while I ordered the ossobuco special. It came with mashed potatoes and a vegetable, and they graciously offered to give me sautéed spinach and broccoli instead of the mashed potatoes. The vegetables were sauteed lightly and seasoned well. The ossobuco was extremely good, and came in a thick tomato sauce--just a teeny bit salty. The. Best part of the ossobuco is the marrow of course--and this one was simply delicious. The servings were so large we had to take some to go. After asking and being told the cannolis were homemade--well, they admitted the shell was not, but our server insisted the crème filling was homemade and this is my weakness so I ordered one to go. When we got home I had to try the cannoli, and was soundly disappointed. It might have been homemade, but it was NOT the Delicious, rich, thick filling that usually comes in a cannoli; this was light and airy, and tasted like whipped cream out of a can. I didn't like it at all. The cannoli was the reason this was not a 4.5 or 5 stars. But the rest of the meal and experience were good, and I would come back next time we visit Palm Desert.

Second time here and the food just as we remembered. Great service for our party of six earlier this week. Salad nicely split between two of us so that we didn't have to shovel it on to one of our bread plates. Crispy calamari starter and Chicken Marsala for me. Wasn't feeling the soft polenta or mashed potato love so I was able to get a side of angel hair twirled in olive oil (even though the menu said no substitutions). Drinks were good and not overly expensive and the crème brûlée was very tasty. Seemed like everyone in our group liked their entrees based on the clean plates. Next time we're down in the desert I'm ordering the tagliatelle. We always hear about Mimmo's, Castelli's and Norma's - glad we checked this one out!

Our first visit here. It will NOT be our last visit. We ordered 3 specials tonight; barrata, veal chop and hanger steak. ALL 3 were prepared to perfection. I like rare steak and the hanger steak was cooked to my liking. The veal chop was tender and the mushroom sauce was delicious. The barratta was creamy with heirloom tomatoes were ripened to perfection. Not all barratas are equal, BUT if the cheese is imported from Italy (which this one was), flavor will not be compromised. Kudos to your specials! It made our evening special.

My husband found this gem to celebrate our wedding anniversary. What a treat. Each recommendation from Joey proved to be right on. I'm a cannelloni snob, and this spinach ricotta with tri-color sauce was nothing like I've ever had before. Another level! The ravioli in a creamy mushroom sauce.. ohemgee. And don't get me started on the Caesar salad- everything I look for in a Caesar dressing. Joey, we will be back!
